Meet Kim
Kim Ahonoukoun is a French–Beninese Canadian artist whose presence in the art world has quietly grown under the radar. Her modern impressionist works are now a compelling voice on the international stage. Much like her inspiration, Claude Monet, Kim has made waterlilies the central focus of her work. These delicate, timeless symbols of nature allow her to explore light, texture, and the fleeting beauty of the natural world.
In Yellow Waterlilies, Kim captures the serenity and reflective elegance of the Nymphaea, blending traditional Impressionist techniques with a vibrant, contemporary perspective.
Through layered brushstrokes and luminous colours, her paintings highlight the interplay between water and flora, creating immersive landscapes that invite viewers to lose themselves in moments of calm and contemplation. The innovative three-dimensional effects in her work add texture and tactility, transforming the viewing experience into an intimate, multi-sensory encounter.
Kim’s journey began at 35, after a transformative meditation experience, and she has since established studios in Florida and London, attracting collectors worldwide. Twice been Artist-in-Residence at the Monet Immersive Experience in Miami and New York, painted live during Paris Fashion Week, collaborated with luxury brands, and exhibited in major cities including Paris, London, New York, and Madrid.
Kim Ahonoukoun continues Monet’s legacy through her work while introducing a fresh, modern interpretation that resonates with contemporary audiences and inspires future generations of artists and art lovers alike.
Artist Statement
"My paintings are all about making your soul feel at peace. My work is a contemporary abstract way of approaching an impressionistic vision. I paint a dreamy version of what I have in front of me. I love using powerful brushstrokes combined with vibrant colors as well as a calming and soft color palette.
When a viewer is standing in front of one of my paintings, I really want them to observe & feel every single brushstroke mainly from an up-close perspective. The closer you get, the more you are able to understand my universe."
