Echoes of Monet’s Mastery
Deeply inspired by Claude Monet, Kim Ahonoukoun’s compositions often emphasise the interplay between water and flora, creating immersive landscapes that invite quiet reflection and draw the observer into the serene environments she portrays through her work.
As a modern impressionist artist in London, Kim captures the fleeting moments of light, water, and nature through delicate brushwork, three-dimensional textures, and luminous colour.
Based between London and the Everglades of Florida, Kim’s paintings are a reflection of both places, calm yet vivid, serene yet full of life. Her impressionist style is unmistakable, as is her use of texture and perspective. Each waterlily painting comes alive, rippling, dancing and breathing on the canvas, offering not just a visual experience but a sense of calm, clarity and connection.
Each work is distinguished by its serene beauty and immersive emotional depth. Through Kim’s masterful handling of light, subtle shadows and radiant highlights are cast across the canvas. This manipulation of colour and illumination draws attention to the tranquil landscapes that echo the enchanting vistas of Monet.
Artist Statement
"My paintings are all about making your soul feel at peace. My work is a contemporary abstract way of approaching an impressionistic vision. I paint a dreamy version of what I have in front of me. I love using powerful brushstrokes combined with vibrant colors as well as a calming and soft color palette.
When a viewer is standing in front of one of my paintings, I really want them to observe & feel every single brushstroke mainly from an up-close perspective. The closer you get, the more you are able to understand my universe."
