Meet Kim
Harmony and soulful tranquillity define the work of Kim Ahonoukoun, a French–Beninese Canadian artist whose popularity in the contemporary impressionist movement has quietly captivated the global art world. With studios in London and Florida, Kim has built a loyal following of collectors who are drawn to the serenity, depth, and emotion her paintings evoke.
Having never painted before the age of 35, Kim’s artistic journey began with a moment of profound clarity during a guided meditation. It was an awakening that revealed her innate ability to translate light, movement, and emotions onto canvas. Her rapid rise has since led to residencies at the Monet Immersive Experience in Miami and New York, live performances during Paris Fashion Week, and collaborations with international luxury brands.
At the heart of her art lies a fascination with waterlilies. A timeless symbol of calm and resilience that connect her spiritually to Claude Monet, the father of impressionism. In Green Water lilies, this connection deepens as her work radiates a quiet strength, its layered greens and subtle iridescence creating a dialogue between water, reflection, and rebirth. Through her innovative three-dimensional technique, Kim breathes new vitality into this classic motif, transforming each water lily and ripple into an immersive, almost tactile experience.
Beyond her technical mastery, Kim’s work carries an inherent healing quality , it is a sanctuary of stillness for the viewer. Diagnosed with dyslexia, she often describes painting as the language through which she finally found her voice. Her art speaks of courage, clarity, and emotional freedom, inspiring others to embrace their individuality and follow their own paths to happiness.
Green Waterlilies stand as both tribute and transformation . It is an evolution of Monet’s legacy through a modern lens, where texture and light intertwine to evoke peace, depth, and renewal. It is an experience to be felt and a moment of serenity suspended in colour, forever alive on canvas.
Artist Statement
"My paintings are all about making your soul feel at peace. My work is a contemporary abstract way of approaching an impressionistic vision. I paint a dreamy version of what I have in front of me. I love using powerful brushstrokes combined with vibrant colors as well as a calming and soft color palette.
When a viewer is standing in front of one of my paintings, I really want them to observe & feel every single brushstroke mainly from an up-close perspective. The closer you get, the more you are able to understand my universe."
